Learning Outcomes

 

• The history of the origin of Ganutell as an old Maltese craft, its purpose and use.
• The different forms and gauges of wires used (plain, coloured, coiled (molla) and fancy coiled wire (boullion,    farfalla) and their use.
• The procedures to use metallic thread and other threads (Rayon, Silk, and Twist) and their use.
• The proper use of colour and shades to create a harmonious colour scheme.
• The meaning of colours in ecclesiastic use (e.g. red for a martyr saint; white for a virgin saint).
• The structure of simple items with the proper use of proportions and ratios (golden ratio), and their relation to   each other in the production of petals, flowers, and bouquets.
• The basic technical terminology used in Ganutell.
