  • Basic classifiers and counting objects
  • Frequency adverbs such as 'mainich (everyday)', 'yoku (often)', and 'tokidoki (sometimes)' to a sentence to describe how often you do something.

General Objectives
  • To enable the learner with the necessary basics to facilitate communication using very basic vocabulary and phrases in Japanese related to everyday life and representative of the home, work, social and public settings.
  • To further one’s learning programme and gain access to further training.
Assessment/Feedback
Ongoing assessment, written exercises, final examination.
Certification/Award
General Education Award in Japanese. The NCFHE deems this General Education Award (7 credits) to be at Level 1 of the MQF and the EQF for Lifelong Learning.
Access to next level of education/training
After successfully completing this course, learners can then proceed to MQF Level 2.
