Learning Outcomes


a) Describe the effectiveness of artistic choices by comparing different complex set designs, props, costumes, lighting and sound designs for the same play;
b) Describe how theatre reflects life by representing situations in everyday life: at home, at school, with friends, with relatives, as witnessed on news reports, and international exceptional events (e.g. political, racial, religious and social discrepancies);
c) Describe the ways that other art forms are incorporated into theatrical presentations through  elements such as the use of song and dance in musicals, slide projections, and art in sets and props;
d) Analyse and discuss the various audience responses to different drama pieces;
e) Interact with classmates in improvisation exercises;
f) Compare universal characters and situations in dramas.
g) Keep abreast of own internal and external resources such as physical, mental, emotional and vocal cognizance, as well as spatial awareness and interaction;
h) Evaluate own learning in improving self-awareness and interactive skills through group brainstorming sessions for devised theatre and by attempting to criticise constructively own work and that of others;
i) Scrutinize scripts in traditional and contemporary forms;

General Objectives

a) Learn ways of designing theatre by becoming aware of the possibilities that exist through artistic partnerships, writing scripts, acting, role playing, and designing different environments in theatre.
b) Use drama in its wider perspective by way of knowing how theatre reflects life, what careers exist in theatre, and what the audience responses to theatre might be;
c) Learn the role of director.
