Learning outcomes

“Expected learning outcomes for this course inlcude:

Knowledge

  • Understand fundamental concepts in Physics, including waves, motion, energy, electricity, magnetism, radioactivity, and thermal physics.
  • Demonstrate awareness of physical laws such as Newton’s Laws, the Law of Conservation of Energy, and Ohm’s Law.
  • Identify and explain the use of standard scientific units and symbols.
  • Recognise key scientific principles that apply to real-world contexts and everyday applications.
  • Understand the historical and contemporary development of scientific theories and their societal relevance.

Skills

  • Interpret and solve problems involving physical formulas (e.g. v=fλv = fλv=fλ, P=IVP = IVP=IV, F=maF = maF=ma).
  • Apply Physics principles to analyse everyday phenomena and technological systems.
  • Read and interpret data from tables, graphs, and diagrams.
  • Plan, conduct, and report on investigations using correct experimental techniques.
  • Carry out quantitative and qualitative experiments related to mechanics, electricity, heat, waves, and optics.
  • Use graphical and mathematical tools to represent and evaluate physical systems.

Competences

  • Communicate scientific understanding clearly using appropriate Physics terminology.
  • Demonstrate awareness of health, safety, and environmental considerations in experimental contexts.
  • Work independently and collaboratively on investigative tasks and problem-solving.
  • Evaluate scientific outcomes and their implications for society, technology, and the environment.
  • Apply critical thinking to interpret data, validate experimental results, and draw justified conclusions.
  • Transfer theoretical knowledge to practical and unfamiliar situations effectively.”
