Directorate for Lifelong Learning and Employability considers learning as a lifelong journey for everyone. In view of this, it organises learning courses for individuals over the age of 15, to help them acquire skills in a way that is tailored to their lives, needs, and work.
The goal is to ensure that these adults reap benefits that not only improve their lives but also enrich their communities, enhance their prospects with employers, and benefit society at large. Approximately 8,000 students are enrolled annually, with a dedicated team of 150 adult educators offering over 400 courses.
The Directorate uses various learning methods, including face-to-face sessions, online synchronous courses, and self-paced courses. Potential learners are supported by a guidance team, and most educators alternate between using Maltese and English in their communication. In foreign language and conversation classes, the language of instruction will be the specific foreign language being taught.
Our learning centers are in Blata l-Bajda, Kirkop, Mrieħel, Mosta, Msida and Rabat (Gozo). The Directorate also collaborates with Local Councils and NGOs to hold courses in various venues outside its primary locations
Classes have specific intake periods in February and October. However, courses on essential skills are organised all year, based on demand.
Admissions for the February/March intake typically commence in January. The 14-week courses are scheduled to begin during the first week of February, while the 8-week courses are set to start in the first week of March.
The intake for October kicks off with a program launch in July. Interested individuals can submit their application during the intake period in July.
