Russian MQF 2

Entry Requirements

Learners are expected to have successfully completed the course Russian MQF Level 1 or have a similar certification. For online lessons, learners need to have an understanding on how to use a computer. Applicants who do not present certification of prior study in the subject will be required to sit for a level check to determine the appropriate course level.

Duration

30-week course with 3 contact hours per week.

Learning Outcomes

Expected learning outcomes for this course inlcude:

Knowledge
• Understand a wider range of Russian vocabulary, expressions and grammatical structures
• Recognise and understand spoken and written texts on familiar and everyday topics
• Understand present, past and future tenses, sentence structures and common language functions
• Develop awareness of cultural references and appropriate communication styles in Russian
Skills
• Participate in conversations and discussions on familiar topics
• Ask for clarification, express opinions, agreement and disagreement
• Read and understand short texts, notices, articles and messages
• Write emails, notes, descriptions and short narrative texts in Russian
• Use appropriate pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary in speaking and writing
• Use dictionaries, ICT and other resources to support communication and language learning
Competences
• Communicate effectively in everyday formal and informal situations using Russian
• Adapt language according to context, audience and purpose
• Engage confidently in listening, speaking, reading and writing tasks at MQF Level 2
• Use Russian independently for basic personal, social and practical communication

Bilingual with Russian.

Certification/Award

An award certificate accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority will be presented to learners who attend a minimum of 80% of the course and achieve an overall mark of 45% or higher in their tasks.

Progression to Further Education

Successful completion of this course may provide learners with an opportunity to further develop their knowledge and skills in this field.
