French Conversation Level 3

Entry Requirements

Learners who are currently following or who have followed the course French SEC Level.

14 week course with 2 contact hours per week

Learning Outcomes

Expected learning outcomes for this course inlcude:

Knowledge

•Understand language structures and vocabulary used to discuss familiar topics in a clear and organised way
•Develop awareness of how to justify opinions, compare alternatives, and explain preferences
•Understand the use of past, present, and future time expressions in spoken communication
•Recognise communication strategies used to maintain conversations and exchange information effectively

Skills

•Speak about familiar subjects in a detailed, clear, and logically sequenced manner
•Express and justify opinions, reactions, thoughts, and emotions using appropriate language
•Use correct language structures, including some complex phrases and varied vocabulary
•Discuss past, present, and future events using appropriate time expressions
•Start and maintain conversations by asking and answering questions appropriately
•Compare alternatives, situations, and events, explaining preferences and viewpoints
•Respond to situations by accepting, declining, or proposing alternatives with justification
•Ask for further information and clarification by probing the interlocutor
•Use generally accurate pronunciation and intonation during interaction

Competence

•Communicate clearly and confidently in familiar and everyday contexts
•Apply communication strategies independently to maintain interaction and exchange information
•Participate actively in discussions and social exchanges using appropriate language and reasoning
•Present and justify viewpoints coherently using organised spoken communication
•Demonstrate increasing fluency, accuracy, and confidence in spoken interaction
